You might be coming to me after some previous experience of counselling, mutual support groups, or other psychotherapies. You might have a specific idea about what it is you want to address, but you might not: such things as anxiety, depression, childhood issues, relationship problems, addictions and dissociation generally have broader contexts.
The type of psychotherapy I practise draws on the most recent developments in the psychoanalytic tradition as well as attachment theory. This means I aim to reach the heart of what’s going on in order to ensure any gains will last into the long term. I engage in depth and find past history meaningful in its impact on current daily life. I’m particularly aware of how distress connects to everyday relationships, and am deliberate about choosing an appropriate way for us to work together. To my mind, psychotherapy is both a transformative experience in itself and a key to greater self-understanding and freedom.

Initial meetings
Starting psychotherapy in itself can provoke anxiety. For one thing, it can be hard to know what you are looking for in a therapist. I recommend at least one introductory meeting to get an idea of how we might work together. There's no special preparation necessary: I try to be as approachable as possible.
Structure
Consultations are confidential and generally fifty minutes long. I do not accept referrals from insurance companies or payments by third parties. I work both in the City of London and Islington at locations very convenient for tube stations.
